Home Learning for Friday 29th September

We hope you have an enjoyable long weekend. We are still posting some activities on the blog this week, despite the INSET days, if would like to complete them! Here are your home learning activities for this week...   Reading   As always, please read every day. This might be your reading book from school or a book from home. Don't forget, you can also log on to bug club phonics.   https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0   At Whiteley, we recommend that you read a book with your child three times to ensure they are really confident with it.  1.   The  1st read  should focus on  decoding — sounding out words and practising blending the sounds. Use the information on the inside cover to practice any tricky words or particular sounds used in the book before encouraging your child to read, using their phonic knowledge to sound out words they aren’t able to read by sight. 2.   The  2nd read  should focus on increasing  fluency , giving your child the chance to read a familiar text

It has been another busy week in Year 2. Thank you for the home learning messages that you have sent us over the last couple of weeks. Please contact us if you need anything on year2@whiteleyapps.com 'Explorers' - the performance! Last week you should have received a parentmail about our upcoming performances. If you haven't booked yourself a space in the hall for the show please fill in the parentmail form your received. Some of the children who have chosen to speak in the show will bring home some words to practise and we would really appreciate it if you could help them with this.  We look forward to seeing you soon! Home learning for 8th September

We have been really impressed with how well the children have settled into the classrooms each morning and how hard they are trying with their learning. Well done! There are just a couple of messages this week... If you have not yet contacted us by email, please send us a message this weekend to year2@whiteleyapps.com. Email is a really useful way for us to communicate with you if something has happened in school and we can't see you in person. We do not automatically get given your email address for data protection reasons, so if you'd like us to be able to contact you, please email us so we have it! Also, there are still some children that have not brought their PE kits into school. We have started PE lessons now so please bring them in ASAP!
