Home learning 10th Jan 2025
Welcome back and Happy New Year!
We hope you had a restful break and managed to stay healthy!
It has been lovely hearing all the children's news this week and seeing them get stuck in with our geography learning.
As always, please email us if you need anything!

Here are you home learning tasks for this week...
Reading
Please continue to read every day. This might be your reading book from school or a book from home. Don't forget, you can also log on to bug club phonics.

Spelling
In phonics this week we have recapping some of the common exception words that children have found tricky. We have chosen some of the words that children are still misspelling for you to practise at home.

Try to put each word in a sentence and write it neatly as this will help you to remember the spelling.
You might also like to try...
• Rainbow writing. Using coloured pencils in different ways can help to make parts of words memorable. You could highlight the tricky parts of the word or write the tricky part in a different colour. You could also write each letter in a different colour, or write the word in red, then overlay in orange, yellow and so on.
• Making up memorable ‘silly sentences’ containing the word
• Saying the word in a funny way – for example, pronouncing the ‘silent’ letters in the word
- Clapping and counting to identify the syllables in the word
Maths
This week in maths we have been recapping how to add and subtract two-digit numbers and ones and two-digit numbers and tens. We have also looked at adding three one digit numbers.
We have recorded a video for you to watch her to remind you about some of the equipment and models we have been using.
Try some simple addition and subtraction at home this week. Your child may seem to find this easy, but it is important that they are fluent with these basic skills before we move onto anything more difficult.
Try playing this game to pracise your skills. Focus on the adding and subtracting trucks to help you.

This week's activity...
This week in geography we have looked at hot and cold places and have been starting to find out about China.
You might like to sing these songs about the continents and oceans.
