Home learning for Friday 16th January

The children have been working really hard this week and we have been very impressed with their 'new year' attitude!

As always, please email us if you have any questions! (year2@whiteleyapps.com)

Reading

Please continue to read every day. This might be your reading book from school or a book from home. Don't forget, you can also log on to bug club phonics.

Spelling

In phonics this week we have been looking at some more homophones (words that sound the same but can be spelt in different ways.)

The words we have looked at are

to

too

two

You should find them easy to spell but can you remember what each one means? Write a sentence with each word in to show you understand.

Maths

This week we have been working on our subtraction skills. We have been practising how to take away two digit numbers away from another two digit number and have also started to look at crossing the tens boundary when subtracting.

To help building fluency when adding and subtracting, use the topmarks sight to practise number facts.

We have recently started working on using a number line. To practise this some more please try the game below.

This week's task...

Have a look at these virtual tours of the King's palaces. There is one website for Buckingham Palace and one for Windsor Castle.

Imagine that the King has invited you to visit one of his palaces. Write about what you can see when you first walk in. How does it make you feel to be in such an important place?
