Home Learning for Friday 12th September 2025

(Please click on READ MORE to view the whole message.)

We hope you and your children have enjoyed the first couple of weeks in Year 2. We have been really impressed with how well the children have settled into the classrooms each morning and how hard they are trying with their learning.

Please do send us a message if you have any questions (year2@whiteleyapps.com)

Have a lovely weekend and if you get the chance, why not try one of these activities...

Reading

As always, please read every day. This might be your reading book from school or a book from home. Don't forget, you can also log on to bug club phonics.

* Please note, we will not know if your child has finished all their reading books on bug club unless you get them to answer the comprehension questions for each one. Just click on the little green bugs as they come up when you are reading and answer the question!

Soon we will be sending home the new reading challenge cards for this year. We will follow the same bronze, silver, gold, super star format as last year, but the prizes will be bookworm badges instead of rockets. Every time you hear your child read aloud at home please sign the card and once it is complete, send it into class for your badge and we will give you the next card!

Spelling

Here are the Year 2 common exception words we would like you to practise this week...

door

floor

poor

because

father

Maybe this week you could try writing in bubble writing?

Maths

This week in maths we have been counting forwards and backwards and ordering numbers. These games will help you practise the skills we have used.

This week's task

In RE this week, we have learnt about Harvest and saying thank you!

During the week, we thought of kind things that people have done for us that we might say thank you for. At home we’d like the children to carry out their own act of kindness. There are lots of ideas for things you could do on the picture below. Do as many as you can!!!

Don’t forget to email us and tell us about them if you want to! (year2@whiteleyapps.com)
