Home Learning for Friday 19th September 2025

It has been a busy week in Year 2. Thank you for the home learning messages that you have sent us over the last couple of weeks. Please contact us if you need anything on year2@whiteleyapps.com

We sent a parentmail this week to invite you to our 'Count your Blessings' performance.

Each class will take the lead in a performance with the two classes to support them with some singing.

Here are the important dates for your diary…

Tuesday 14th October 2pm – 2S performance

Wednesday 15th October 2pm – 2R performance

Thursday 16th October 2pm – 2B performance

Your child will only be on the stage on their class performance day, so please attend the correct day for their class!

Your child will not need a costume for this performance. We will provide any props needed.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Here are your home learning activities for this week....

Reading

As always, please read every day. This might be your reading book from school or a book from home. Please make sure your reading logs are in school every day for adults to write in. Don't forget, you can also log on to bug club phonics. Please email us if you need your details for logging in!

You can also borrow a book from the school library. Please note - you cannot take a new book until your current ones are returned!

Spelling

Here are a few of the Year 2 common exception words for you to practise at home this week. You can choose how to practise and record them. Maybe you could make them out of playdoh or use colouring pencils to create some rainbow writing.

Maths

This week we'd like you to look at the bbc supermovers website. You may already be familiar with these videos, but if you are not, they are a great way of practising children's math's skills in an active way.
Follow the link below and choose a video to watch and move to. Your child might already have a favourite from school that they'd like to share with you!

This week's task...

Our new learning journey is all about explorers and expeditions they went on. To help us with this learning, this week we'd like you to look at the world map! Which countries do you recognise? Which countries have you visited?

We have been learning songs about the continents and oceans. You might like to sing them again...

Continents song      Oceans song

When you think you know them all, you could try playing this game to locate them on a map...
