Maths

This week we have been working on some simple addition and subtraction. We have recorded a video for you to watch here to see some of the equipment and models we have been using.





Try some simple addition and subtraction at home this week. Your child may seem to find this easy, but it is important that they are fluent with these basic skills before we move onto anything more difficult.

This week's task...

In Science, we have investigated the creatures that use our school as their habitat. Have a look in your garden and find out what lives there. You could draw what you find or make a tally chart to show which animal you find the most of. Have a talk with an adult about why you think your garden is a good habitat for the creatures you find. If you don’t have your own garden maybe you could look in the park, woods or the Whiteley pond?


We are also going to learn about how to make food chains by ordering different animals and plants. You could play this game to have a try!

It has been a busy week in Year 2. Thank you for the home learning messages that you have sent us over the last couple of weeks. Each class will take the lead in a performance with the two classes to support them with some singing. Here are the important dates for your diary… Tuesday 14 th October 2pm – 2S performance Wednesday 15 th October 2pm – 2R performance Thursday 16 th October 2pm – 2B performance Your child will only be on the stage on their class performance day, so please attend the correct day for their class!
