Home learning for Friday 21st Mar
It has been so lovely to see so many of you this week. We hope you found the parent's meetings useful. If you have any questions about the information we gave you, please contact us on year2@whiteleyapps.com.
* DON'T FORGET! Next Wednesday (26th) is our dressing up day. Please make sure children are dressed as a real royal person and that they can explain who they are. Thanks in advance for supporting us with this!
Here are you home learning activities for this week...
Reading
Please continue to read every day. This might be your reading book from school or a book from home. Don't forget, you can also log on to bug club phonics.

Spelling
In phonics this week we have been looking at the 'ee' sound made at the end of words by the letters ey.
key
donkey
money
monkey
chimney
There are some spelling games here that you can play to practise this sound...

Maths
This week we have been learning about money. We have practised recognising different coins and adding different amounts. We have also learnt about giving change. All of these skills are becoming more difficult for children nowadays as we are using 'real money' less and less. If you get the chance, please look at some real coins and notes, and maybe even use them to go shopping and give the children a real life experience.
Then, why not try one of these games to practise what we have learnt...

This week's activity...
This week in geography, we’ve been looking at the features
of the seaside.
Have a talk at home about any visits you have been on to the
seaside. What did you see there?
Do you know what each of these geographical words mean?
Coast
Cliff
Harbour
Port
Beach
Sea
Ocean
Town
Can you work out which features are physical (made by
nature) or human (manmade)?
If you haven’t been on your own seaside trip, you might want
to watch this fishing adventure that William Whiskerson goes on in Weymouth.
